Online enrollment for the 2026-27 school year will be available starting July 7, 2026. In-person enrollment will be noon to 7 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28.

WPS will host "Tour Tuesday" events to allow the public to learn more about the upcoming WPS bond and how schools will benefit from the bond.

Free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to all children 18 years old and younger at 33 locations in Wichita as part of the WPS Summer Food Service Program.

The district's first Tour Tuesday was hosted by Truesdell Middle School and gave attendees the chance to see the challenges older buildings can bring.

The Wichita Board of Education approved putting a two-question bond issue on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

Wichita Public Schools administration recommended a bond issue proposal to the Board of Education on Monday, May 4, 2026. The bond proposal focuses on long-term investments and improvements including rebuilding, remodeling and renovating facilities.

We set a goal two years ago to increase our graduation rate and open more doors for our students’ futures. We didn’t just meet that goal — we exceeded it. The Class of 2025 was the largest graduating class in our history but our work doesn’t stop there.

We had our 4th Habit Assembly of the school year. These events are full of celebrations and recognitions for the amazing things our students are doing at Gammon. This month’s habit focus was Habit 4: Think Win-Win.

More than 260 WPS employees and partners from 65 buildings and programs have been recognized with the Fall Good Apple Awards.

Gammon has created a program known as Knight Quest to give students the opportunity to gather together focusing around a shared interest.

Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld, Safety and Environmental Services Director Terri Moses and Hamilton principal Chad Cushenbery shared updates on recent facility investments that strengthen the security of our schools. Hamilton is one of five schools that received a new secured entrance this summer, marking the completion of districtwide upgrades to ensure every WPS school has a protected and welcoming entryway.

The state of Kansas is changing the state assessment cut scores because the scores didn’t tell the whole story about what students know and are able to do, and many who were labeled “not proficient” were excelling.
